KARACHI: Traffic remained low throughout the city and markets were closed in various parts of the city following a call for strike by MQM, ARY News reported.

Public transport was largely absent from the roads, causing traffic to remain slow. Shops and markets spread across the city also remained shut. Save a few petrol pumps, most fuel stations remained close throughout the city.

A day earlier, a worker of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) named Waseem had died in police custody. Members of the Rabita Committee held a press conference and appealed to transporters and the business community to participate in a peaceful strike for two days. Following his death, Waseem’s body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital in order to conduct a postmortem.
